Trip plan · Prague

Prague in 4 days, on the right days.

Prague is compact, but timing matters: the Jewish Museum is closed on Saturdays, the Castle buildings close early in winter, and the best day trips need a full day. A good plan sorts that out before you land.

The plan, day by day

  1. Day 1 · Old TownThe Old Town Hall tower and the astronomical clock, then the free Idiom book tower in the Municipal Library foyer, and coffee at Café Louvre or Café Savoy.
  2. Day 2 · The Jewish QuarterOne Jewish Museum ticket covers several synagogues and the Old Jewish Cemetery, and it’s valid for three opening days. The museum is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, so this day can’t be a Saturday.
  3. Day 3 · The Castle and StrahovSt Vitus and the Castle buildings. In winter the buildings close at about 4 pm and the gardens are closed from November to February. Then on to the Strahov Library, whose halls you view from the doorway.
  4. Day 4 · A day outKutná Hora for the Sedlec Ossuary (timed tickets) and St Barbara’s, or the Terezín Memorial by bus from Letňany.
